Matias Nilsson is half Argentine, half Swedish, and fully obsessed with telling great stories — whether it’s a big-brand commercial or a film that lives on grit and heart. Born in Buenos Aires and based in Los Angeles for over a decade, he’s fluent in Spanish, English, and semi-fluent in IKEA Swedish. Matias has worked on countless commercials, plus films, TV shows, and music videos — from high-end productions to scrappy passion projects — across USA, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Spain, South Africa, Canada, among others. In 2022, he won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials as 1st AD on Apple’s Run Baby Run. His latest short film screened at 20+ festivals, including HBO NY Film Festival and LA Shorts, and took home Best Short at the IMDb Awards. His debut CONVICTION aired on national TV in Argentina. Matias’s work is driven by a love for human stories — raw, funny, beautiful, and real. He brings intensity, precision, and a good dose of humor to every set. Also: will pause any conversation to talk fútbol. Because it’s fútbol.
